Guide to Shopping

We're not just for students

Browse our Books by Category

There are a number of ways to search our database for particular titles:

  • General searching by keywords, title, author or ISBN.
  • Prescribed and recommended textbooks and coursebooks.
  • By subjects of interest to you.

General Searching - Keyword, Title, Author, ISBN

General searches can be performed from our search panel at the top of every page.

  • Searches are not case-sensitive.
  • Author, title and ISBN searches are alphabetical from the starting point which you specify as the search text. Therefore Paters will yield 'Paterson A', 'Paterson A B', 'Paterson K', etc.
  • Author searches should be structured Shakespeare or Shakespeare W
  • Star wildcards may be used in keyword searching (eg: ca* will match to 'cat', 'cab', 'Canterbury', 'catastrophe', etc.)
  • Keyword searching can be used for title and author searching when the exact title or author is not known (eg: when searching for 'Romeo and Juliet' you could specify Romeo Shakes*).
  • Trivial words (eg: is, the, and, of) will be disregarded for keyword searches. Do not include these in your search.

Textbook searches for most of the institutions we service searches are available to the left side of the Home page. You have to know your course code to look up your prescribed and recommended texts. While we take every precaution in compiling text information we recommend that you check your departmental handbooks.

Searching by Subject of Interest

On the left of most pages you can search by category and can see the organisation of our database structure and search for titles that have been classified under particular subject headings.
